Cathy August 2008

Cathy, brought up in Wales, the Land of Song, was surrounded by the competitive music making of Eisteddfodds, (Welsh Music Festivals) from a very early age. Although initially she trained as a State Registered Nurse at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, she has now returned to her musical roots in helping to establish the Gibraltar Festival for Young Musicians, here in Gibraltar, her home for the last twenty five years.

Cathy teaches piano and is also involved in local schools where she teaches music and helps to promote music making amongst the pupils. Together with Wayne, Cathy has formed a charitable organisation, ‘Allegro Music Productions', which organises the Gibraltar Festival for Young Musicians annually and which held its first concert in June 2005, where the young musicians were able to play alongside experienced musicians at The King’s Chapel, Gibraltar. Concerts, where the children can perform on their chosen instruments are a regular feature with ‘Allegro Music Productions’, as its aim is to give children the opportunity to perform in public and develop their musical talents.

Director: Cathy Batchelor MA, BA(Hons), PGCE, CT ABRSM
